I am not religious so the only knowledge I have on Catholicism is what I know from TRS 97 and my upper division TRS course on the Virgin Mary with Brother Mark, both I took over a year ago. As for this course, I learned a lot. Something that has intrigued me since we learned about back on campus was Saint Agnes. We visited the Basilica of Saint Agnes during her feast day, January 21st, in which we saw the blessing of the lambs. Though I didn’t understand what they were saying during the mass, I noticed that her image was between two bishops in the apse, something rare in the Catholic Church. While she was very young when she was killed, I’d like to applaud her for going against the status quo and going with her beliefs, giving her virginity and life to Jesus, a sign of rebellion.
